Wallets and identity

Use your wallet and a recognizable Reway identity to make repeat payments easier.

Reway works with user-controlled wallets. Your wallet holds your assets and lets you authorize payment actions. Reway Identity adds a recognizable name or profile to make payment interactions easier to follow.

Connect a wallet

Choose a connection option offered by the app and check the account that connects. If you use several accounts, make sure you select the one you intend to pay from or receive into.

Connecting lets the app interact with the selected account. Review later signing, approval, and transaction requests separately; they are not all the same permission.

Set receiving preferences

A receiving preference combines an asset and a network. Where the account flow supports it, an identity can point to configured receiving information so repeat payers do not have to exchange raw wallet details each time.

For example, a freelancer could use a recognizable Reway identity with USDC on Base as a supported receiving preference. The payer would still need to check the recipient and payment quote.

What identity helps with

  • Recognizing a recipient before paying.
  • Repeating a payment without manually exchanging receiving details each time.
  • Connecting payment links and activity with a recognizable profile.
  • Supporting planned experiences such as Send, Requests, and Reway Page.

An identity improves usability. Always check the actual recipient and destination shown for the payment, especially when preferences have changed.

Keep account access private

You should never need to give someone your wallet's recovery phrase or private key to receive help with a payment. Use the wallet's own interface to review authorization requests.

Read security and control for the non-custodial model, or troubleshooting if the wrong account appears in the app.
